Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: Earth
Event Time: 2021-05-26T11:37Z ( DSCOVR: PLASMAG )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
DSCOVR: PLASMAG
ACE: SWEPAM
ACE: MAG
Activity ID: 2021-05-26T11:37:00-IPS-001 (version 2)
Quality of ICME Signature: 2 (clear signatures)
Note: Sudden magnetic field increase to 7.5 nT, exceeding 10 nT at 2021-05-26T12:35Z, and eventually reaching 16.8 nT at 2021-05-26T16:27Z. Accompanied by sudden increases in solar wind ion density, speed, and temperature, which begin to decrease slightly at around 2021-05-26T12:34Z. Field component rotations visible in DSCOVR magnetic field data beginning 2021-05-26T11:47Z, indicating the presence of a flux rope. This is a complex arrival signature comprising at least two magnetic shocks (at 11:37Z and 16:15Z), and may be associated with both the triplet of CMEs detected on 2021-05-22 and the triplet of CMEs detected on 2021-05-23, each of which was modeled with a combined leading edge.
